Have a Drink in NH and Vermont At the Same Time in This State Border Bar

One of things on my bucket list before I die is to visit and stand on the Four Corners Monument. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Four Corners Monument is where the states of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico intersect. You can literally stand on all four states at once.

Maybe you read that and said “Meh.” Well, you could do something like that closer to home. How about having an adult beverage in TWO states at the same time?

Ladies and gentlemen: I give you Whetstone Station.

Located in Brattleboro, VT, Whetstone boasts beautiful dining views of the Connecticut River from inside the restaurant. They serve over 60 craft beers that come from their award-winning Nano Brewery and you can literally have a drink in Vermont and NH at the same time!

How is that possible? The story goes that when Brattleboro began to grow, they extended the bridge trusses and footings of buildings out into the Connecticut River. Back when the state boundaries were drawn up, New Hampshire got all the Connecticut River, so when the Whetstone building extended it became a two-state restaurant!

They even have a bright yellow line on the floor, so you know which state you’re in. Go check out Whetstone some time, get a beverage, straddle the line and have a drink in two states!
