New Ghostbusters Movie Set in Present Day, Will Follow Trajectory of 80’s Classics
In 1984, three former para-psychology professors decided to set up shop with a unique ghost removal service. Doctors Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz and Egon Spengler soon became a household name, traveling around New York in the Etco I, a converted 1959 Cadillac Ambulance, eradicating the city of ghosts.
Of course, it was all just a movie, but it was fun to watch the lives of these three professors and the mess they got themselves into. Ghostbusters earned $1.7 million on its opening weekend.
And now, 30 years later, the Ghostbusters are set to return! This isn’t a reboot, but rather, as director Jason Reitman explains it: “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. What happened in the 80’s happened in the 80’s, and this is set in the present day.”
The movie will follow the trajectory of the original film. Does that mean we will see what happened to Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson’s characters? We don’t know…there is no word on what the plot will be or if the original characters will be in “Ghostbusters 3.”
Filming starts in a few months with a release date of 2020.
Check out the trailer below. Even if it is vague, it does, however, cause an interest in the movie. Maybe it’s the nostalgic factor of the original.
Whatever it is, Ghostbusters 3 will be on the list of most anticipated films of 2020.
